Living Spaces
The renovation of the living areas introduced a palette inspired by the Australian bush, featuring greens, beiges, greys, and soft pinks. This choice reflects the waterfront setting through textures and patterns in rugs, timber grains, and soft furnishings. The client emphasized the use of Australian design and manufacturing, incorporating pieces from brands like Zuster and Jardan, as well as custom furniture by Melbourne designer Christopher Blank.
Entryway
In the entryway, a handwoven rug by Hare and Klein complements a brass and walnut detailed cabinet, adorned with photography by Kett Studios. The formal dining area features a custom-built Marri live-edge table with an asymmetrical base, illuminated by the suspended Twin Orical Pendant by Australian lighting designer Christopher Boots. The main living space is designed for comfort and light, offering views of the water. Large, comfortable sofas and relaxed linen-covered occasional chairs enhance seating, while an oversized Australian timber coffee table serves as a central feature.
Master Suite
The client desired a masculine design with generous proportions and a luxurious atmosphere, akin to a high-end hotel. To achieve this, the bathroom was reconfigured into an open-plan layout by installing an additional structural beam and adjusting the floor plan to accommodate new waste locations. This allowed for a spacious footprint that includes a large freestanding spa bath, double shower, and double vanity, while maintaining privacy for the toilet area.
A dark color palette was employed to create a moody, masculine ambiance, utilizing dark stone-look tiles on walls and floors, complemented by dark timber-look joinery. Recessed LED lighting adds to the dramatic effect. Contrasting elements include Corian surfaces used for the counter, basins, and spa bath cladding. Custom black metal frames for the shower screen and bespoke timber joinery around the spa bath provide additional storage and soften the white cladding. The result is a luxurious space that embodies a sense of Australian lifestyle.
Throughout the renovation, the integration of Australian design elements and craftsmanship was prioritized, resulting in a cohesive and sophisticated living environment that caters to both relaxation and entertainment.
