It always seems to amaze us just how many colour variations there can be of each and every colour ‘type’. Like which white is really white? And how deep is black to make it truly black? Why can’t I ever find the perfect matching hue?
These endless varieties can seem overwhelming to some but an endless list of opportunities to us.Not only can there be hundreds of slight tonal differences on offer, but the huge range of textural applications can completely transform any colour too! Whether it’s a smooth surface, rustic textured wall, feature element or soft furnishing, the same colour can have a dramatically different visual outcome and overall feel from application to application. The way a colour represents itself within a texture can be heavily effected by the way light hits, absorbs or bounces off it. Creating moments of shadow, light or reflection through either natural lighting, artificial lighting or combinations of both which alter the appearance of colour to each individual eye.
Today we had colour varieties on our mind, as we often spend time in the studio enjoying the hunt for the perfect shade! We’ve put together a little lookbook which displays how colour applications can be effected by texture! Focusing on a mix of textural finishes which give off unique sensory personalities!
