Last month we chatted to House and Garden Magazine about how to Industrial Style your kitchen.
An industrial style kitchen is a great way to add drama and movement to your contemporary home. The key is to mix and match the styles in both the kitchen and adjacent dining / lounge. Industrial elements can look great in combination with contemporary cabinetry. Make a statement with industrial style pendants over the island or dining area and incorporate industrial style stools or dining chairs. Combining benchtop surfaces such as stainless steel and raw concrete with simple flat panel matte (as opposed to gloss) cabinetry will be sure to give your new kitchen space an industrial feel with a contemporary edge. Caesarstone have a great range of ‘concrete’ like colours in their range if you are looking for a durable and cheaper alternative to concrete benchtops.
Whilst generally the colour palette is quite neutral with black, white and grey tones, don’t be afraid to style with a touch of colour by incorporating bold artwork and accessories.
Concrete benchtops will certainly not date. Cement style surfaces date back to Ancient Rome so concrete, similar to natural stone will certainly stand the test of time whilst also looking contemporary and fresh. The important thing to remember is that the concrete can have colour variation as well as minor imperfections, however this only adds to the unique character and appeal.
