Like many other elements to your interiors, flooring plays a crucial role, not only in functionality but also as acting as a canvas in the overall palette & design of your home. Too often we find the same paired back flooring used throughout an entire home, however an entire home brings a world of opportunity to highlight key spaces such as the entry way, sunken living room or kitchen.. just to name a few. With open-plan living becoming the norm to cater to the modern lifestyle, switching up your flooring can help with zoning different spaces, creating visual interest and balance where it’s needed!

Tiling
Whether it be through colour, size, pattern or materiality your opportunities are pretty much endless when it comes to feature tiling. We find maintenance / level of cleaning required can be a key reason people hold back… hence why large format stacked tiles are so common… However with the correct research in materiality & colour – you can really make an impact on your space. It may even be a matter of being strategic with the placement of tiles, which would reduce any high level of maintenance (although we think a little extra maintenance can be worth it for the perfect outcome!!)

Timber Flooring
Timber flooring is a common type of flooring that you may even have in your own home already! Without professional advice or research prior to selecting – you really do miss out of the multitude of different timber flooring options out there! Whether it be nailing the species of timber, particular stain (even custom!) as well as the different laying options. By taking the time to consider your options you can specify timber flooring that’s point of difference in your home.
Design Tip: If the space and design of the home lends to it, there This also a perfect way to zone particular spaces of a home, even bringing in the opportunity introduce a feature pattern /or even contrasting flooring product without having to commit to the entire home!
