PHOTO REVEAL: Bayview One Kids Bathroom & WC

Welcome to  – The Kids Bathroom & WC!

We have shown you the kid’s bedrooms and upstairs breakout space,  and today we are taking a closer look at their bathroom and WC. With three kids aged between 10-13 , the bathroom is one of the most used spaces both morning and night so we wanted it to look good but be SUPER functional for them.

CLEANING FRIENDLY

High on the priority list for me was NO GLASS – so the design kicked off by creating this walk-in shower which we love! It gives the room a much cleaner look and creates less fuss when it comes to cleaning (and also privacy). The nib wall also allowed us to sneak in a shower niche for all the kids bathroom products, and keeps these items out of sight from the rest of the room! Plus it created the perfect place to add some wall sconces – we opted for a pair of the beautiful ‘Anton Mini’ Ceramic wall sconces from Volker Haug.

THE TILES

We worked with Artedomus for all our bathroom tiles as we love their high level of quality and stunning handcrafted designs.

In this Main Bathroom we wrapped the floor tiles up the walls two tiles high in a beautiful natural stone look 600 x 600 porcelain. As we don’t like to see unsightly tile edges, we decided to double sheeted the walls so the tiles were able to be flush with the plasterboard – we love how this design detail elevated the space!

We then selected an ‘Inax’ Japanese mosaic from Artedomus that went from floor to ceiling on the shower bay, and up over the mirror cabinets. The fine detail of this small format tile is spectacular, and honestly gets better and better the closer you are!

CUSTOM VANITY

The oak cabinetry features the Farmers Doors in the same detail as the kitchen with the natural wire brushed oak veneer, custom handle profile and extruded side panels. It adds the perfect timber element to warm up the space! Another must from the get go was plenty of storage. So we not only have the vanity but we also designed in three large overhead mirror cabinets – one for each child. They don’t fill them all at this point, but going into those teen years I know they will make good use of all the space!

THE TAPWARE

Again we worked with Sussex when it came to all the tapware in our new home. We selected the ‘Circa’ range (one of our faves!) opting for basin and bath wall mixers, and the duo rail shower in their brushed nickel finish.

We love the Australian made journey, and high quality finish of the Sussex ranges! Every product is created in-house: beginning with the vision of a collection to the casting in the foundry, all the way to the craftsman’s workbench. The journey is then completed using their LUXPVD® world-class finishing technology – giving you a product that is guaranteed to last!

KID FRIENDLY

Our pet hate is that our kids NEVER hang their towels up properly…ever! So we went with three single towel hooks at the end of the shower, rather than the traditional towel rails. It’s impossible to make a towel look bad on a hook right?!  With the bath, we didn’t want to close the room down with a tiled in bath, so we opted for a back to wall semi freestanding bath. The back to wall design means we have no tricky cleaning behind the bath, and a soft curved detail on the front corners. We also decided to offset the bath mixer to one side to avoid having it as an obstruction in the middle.

We added a little luxury and one I am glad we did – this being the underfloor heating! We love this addition as it dries the room out, keeps the kids feet warm in winter and aids in drying the towels as well.

KID FRIENDLY

THE SEPERATE WC

Now one of our smartest decisions was definitely adding a separate WC to the kids area! With 3 busy kids adding an extra wash basin to the WC has been a lifesaver (especially during that pre school time rush!). It is located just outside the bathroom and houses an additional integrated wall hung Staron Solid Surface basin.

We of course opted for the same Sussex wall mixer, as well as the ‘Perf Sconce’ from Janie Collins and ‘Horizon Vertical’ mirror from Finnish Design Shop for a touch of playful character!
