Nothing makes a house feel more like a home than a family photo wall… a very traditional element of almost every family home and certainly something that is sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face.

Despite it being such a traditional addition to the home, it doesn’t mean it can’t be switched up along with the rest of your furnishings and design. 

With design and styles of homes constantly evolving, the elements within should be allowed to evolve with it!

There are so many different methods of hanging and positioning photos and pretty much something to compliment the design language within any home!

Tidy

By tidy we mean placement of symmetrical, linear and often matching frames. We recommend this option for a more subtle approach. Maybe in a living room or dining room where there is already a lot of elements in the space?? Or simply if you’re trying to achieve a more minimal look.  This simple hanging method lets the photographs themselves stand out!

Scattered

The scattered method is a rather casual approach.  But don’t stop at just the placement, try mixing up different shaped and sized photo frames as well to add to the ‘scattered’ appearance. A great way to tie in the old with the new, think mixed and matched vintage frames….

Resting 

For those that feel like fixing into walls is a crime, this one is for you!  Make use of some of those existing shelving that you can’t find a purpose for, or even a fire place mantle to rest your photos frames on.  It is certainly a more temporary option which means switching out the photos every now again isn’t so hard!

Collage 

The good old ‘collage’ display, it entails grouping different sized frames whilst still maintaining structure and a tidy border.  It’s the perfect solution to having some variation but sense of order at the same time. Mixing out different styles of frames will make it act more of a feature within the space!

If you have a collection of old frames I highly recommend trying this method – there is not better way to showcase your collection!

Corner

Are you lacking on empty wall space?!?  Recently I’ve been seeing family photo walls that wrap around corners within smaller rooms! Keeping framing and the effect on the photos consistent it can act as a replacement for wallpaper and make for such an intriguing and personal feature to your home!
